HELP, I CAN’T INSTALL WHATSAPP
In order to download the latest version of Whatsapp, you need to have a smartphone running Android version 2.1 or higher. You can check your phone's current Android version in Settings > About Phone.
If you're installing WhatsApp from the WhatsApp website, you'll have to enable the ''Unknown Sources'' in your security settings by going to Settings > Security > Unknown Sources to activate it.

WHATSAPP DOESN'T RECOGNIZE MY CONTACTS
WhatsApp wouldn't recognize your contacts due to some factors. If this is the case, then apply the following:
  • Make sure you have your contacts' correct numbers.
  • Find out if they are currently using WhatsApp.
  • Check to see if you have the latest version of WhatsApp.
  • Make sure all of you contacts are "visible" and/or "viewable" in contact list.
  • In your contact list, make sure all of your contact groups (like friends, family, co-workers etc.) are set to "visible" and/or "viewable".

HOW DO I ADD INTERNATIONAL CONTACTS IN WHATSAPP?
The solution is simple: when adding international contacts, you must always include the correct regional code (e.g. +1 for Canada), even if you’re currently using the same code. It might help if the other person does the same for your number also.

HOW DO I PAY FOR WHATSAPP?
Although Whatsapp is available for free download, you'll have to pay after using it for a year. For iOS users, WhatsApp is free for life, but Android users have to pay 99 cents per year.
For you to pay there are different payment options, which are Google Wallet and sending a payment link. You can also use PayPal with older versions of WhatsApp.
  • To pay with your Paypal account (if you have one) or by credit card, you will get the option via your navigator.
  • To use your Google Wallet account, for which you can subscribe for easier app purchasing, you will need to give Google your bank account information.
  • To use a purchase link, you’ll receive a purchase link via email.

HOW DO I BLOCK CONTACTS IN WHATSAPP?
There are various reasons people block contacts on Whatsapp. Well, no matter your reason(s), to block a contact, just go to the conversation of the contact you wish to block, tap the options button (the three dots), tap "More" and then tap "Block".
You can add all the contacts you want to this black list and then you won't receive any more of their messages. If you want to unblock a contact, then you just go back to the same place and choose ''Unblock''.

WHAT DOES "LAST SEEN" MEAN IN WHATSAPP?
The ‘last seen’ simple let your contacts know when last you opened the Whatsapp application.
When you open WhatsApp and one of your contacts opens WhatsApp from their end, you'll see their status change to ''Online''. This however does not mean they're looking at your messages, just that they have WhatsApp open.

HOW DO I HIDE MY “LAST SEEN" TIMESTAMP IN WHATSAPP?
This is very easy, although some users don’t know how to go about it. Just go to your Settings in whatsapp, Account, then to Privacy. Once you’re here, tap ''Last Seen'' and you can select "Nobody" from the options that pop up. This means that no one will be able to see the last time you had WhatsApp open.

HOW DO I DELETE MY WHATSAPP ACCOUNT?
Note that deleting the Whatsapp application from your phone is different from deleting your account with Whatsapp.
To uninstall the WhatsApp app from your phone: go to Settings > Apps > WhatsApp > Uninstall.
To delete your WhatsApp account completely, go to WhatsApp > menu > Settings > Account>Delete My Account, and confirm your phone number. You can also change the number associated with Whatsapp here.

WHAT DOES THE BLUE CHECK MARKS MEAN IN WHATSAPP?
Below is a summary of what Whatsapp icons mean:
  • When you see the clock symbol, it means your message is yet to be sent from your device.
  • If the clock symbol changes to one tick, then it means that the message has been sent and has been received by the WhatsApp server.
  • Two ticks means the message has been delivered to the intended device.
  • When the Two blue ticks appear, it means that the recipient/recipients have seen the message.
  • In group conversations, when the two blue ticks appear, it means that all participants in the group have viewed the message.

WHY CAN'T I CONNECT TO WHATSAPP?
This may be caused by network data connection issues. If you still face this problem, do the following:
  • Switch on your device.
  • Install the latest version of Whatsapp from the Play Store.
  • Verify that your internet connection, Wi-Fi or 3G is enabled. To enable this, go to Settings > Wireless and Network.
  • Deactivate any ''Task Killer'' app (a third-party application that will help save energy by shutting down applications) or ensure it isn’t affecting WhatsApp.
  • Empty the app cache (Settings > Applications > WhatsApp > Clear Cache).
  • Finally, if after applying all tips above and it still persists, then uninstall the app and later reinstall it.

HOW DO I STOP PEOPLE FROM KNOWING THAT I'VE READ THEIR MESSAGES?
You can disable the WhatsApp blue check marks (''read receipts'') so that users do not know if you have read your messages. To get this activated go to Settings> Account>Privacy> Read Receipts. Note that this works two ways; if you disable it, you won’t know who read your own messages.

HOW DO I DISABLE MEDIA AUTO-DOWNLOAD IN WHATSAPP?
If you have an unlimited data or free WI-FI, Whatsapp auto download is fun. But if you have limited data, then it will wipe up your data shortly than expected.
To disable auto-download, go to Settings > Chat Settings, > Media Auto-Download, and configure the options as you like. Take note that voice messages are always automatically downloaded, but their file size is usually much smaller than that of pictures and videos.

HOW DO I SHARE AND SEND ANY FILE IN WHATSAPP?
With Whatsapp, you can send files with low size. Whatsapp supports photos, audio, map location, videos and contact details. But what if you want to send a PDF or a GIF?
The easiest way to do this is to use an app. One of such app is called CloudSend, which links to a Dropbox account and then simply creates short link URLs to any type of file you want to share in WhatsApp or elsewhere. To get this done, simply grab the app, hit the share menu for the file and choose CloudSend.
