There are lots of features of Nexus 5 that make it cool,
so relax and enjoy the ride as I present to you astonishing tips and tricks
you
need to make the most out of your Nexus 5 device.
1. TAKE BETTER PHOTOS
Take it or leave it, we all love pictures. And with Nexus
5 you can get photos of unimaginable quality with the lollipop update which has
been improved, making photos more charming than ever. Such improved features
include the “manual exposure” with which you can enhance simply by going to
camera app, slide the camera option from left then tap the settings icon. After
that, go to advanced and then enable manual exposure. You will see a new “+/-”
icon at the bottom of the list when you tap the three options icon in future. This
allows you manually set the exposure value. Give this a try and see how your
photos will be advanced. (learn advanced photography tricks)
2. AUTO
BRIGHTNESS CHANGER
With this feature, you can save the battery life of your
nexus 5 which is short. To do this you need to have Bright Time app.
With the app installed, go into your settings menu and tap the security option
to gain access to the security menu. After this, scroll down to “unknown
sources” and make sure you have it enabled by moving the slider to the right. (Download
the app here from your device browser)
Once downloaded, you just have to tap on the notification to open the
install wizard. You may see security warnings, but you don’t need to worry
because this app is verified, and you can usually trust what appears on the XDA
Developers forum. The next thing to do is to follow the install instructions
which pop up.
Once Bright Time has been installed it will launch and you will be
presented with a schedule. You can schedule it manually and also set it automatically.
3. PRINT VIA
THE CLOUD
This is an easy way of printing your documents, images,
and photos from any printer, provided that is connected to the same Wi-Fi network
you’re on and you’ve got cloud print Service enabled. You just need to activate
it by going to Settings > Printing and click on the Cloud Print
option. Once enabled, you can use this service to print via the cloud.
4. ORGANIZE YOUR SCREEN WITH FOLDERS
Although this is simple, but I’ve seen so many completely
unorganized home screens. By adding similar themed apps together, you can have
a ton of apps at the touch of your fingertips without having to deal with pages
of app icons.
Just press long on an app and then drag it onto another
app icon and it’ll automatically create a folder. From there, you can rename
the folder to whatever you like.
5. ROOT YOUR NEXUS DEVICE
Do you want to take total control of your Nexus 5,
install a custom ROM, remove native applications, or just want to try out some
apps which require root access? If yes, then you need to try rooting your Nexus
5.
6. SAVE YOUR BATTERY
What’s the point buying a Nexus 5 and the battery won’t
last long? Some factors that drain battery life may include some of the
settings that are enabled by default. If you’re looking to gain a little bit
more life, you can first stop the device from constantly searching for Wi-Fi
and limiting the amount of GPS requests that your device makes.
To achieve this simply go to Settings >
Wi-Fi > Advanced Options. From there, you can decide whether
you can to keep Wi-Fi on when the device is asleep, so that it's not always
scanning, and get Wi-Fi optimization enabled.
From this point, you can alter a number of things, like
turning "scanning always available" off to improve your battery life.
Another method of saving battery would be to use only your Wi-Fi and mobile
networks as opposed to GPS, in order to determine your location. You can access
these in Settings
> Location. This might reduce the accuracy of localization
services, but it will definitely help save some of your battery as the day goes
on.
7. QUICK ACCESS TO THE CAMERA AND DIALER
Taking photos quickly is one of the reasons for having a
mobile device. Instead of unlocking your device, fire open the camera app
before taking a picture; you can easily access your camera straight from your
lock screen.
To do this, click
the icon in the lower right corner of your lock screen and drag it to the left
and your camera will fire up. This also applies to the dialer. Why unlock and
launch the dialer when you can access it straight from the lock screen?
These are the tips we have. What other tips do you know
for the Nexus 5? If you have any, drop them in the comment box. Have any of
these been helpful for you? Let us know.
